In a heart-wrenching yet hopeful turn, social media influencer Lizzie Kieffer welcomed her third child on September 14, 2025, just five months after the devastating loss of her one-year-old daughter Lily. The Missouri-based content creator shared the news via Instagram, posting a tender “Hello World” image of the newborn to announce their arrival and mark this deeply emotional moment for her family.
Lizzie and her husband Matt are now parents to three daughters. Their oldest, Mia, is joined by this newest arrival as they step forward through grief and into new life. Earlier in the year she had revealed that Lily had died unexpectedly. Doctors had discovered a large mass on the toddler’s brain a condition that could not have been anticipated. Lizzie wrote that she and her family were “shattered” by the loss and have been trying to understand how one day starts like any other and the next becomes unthinkable.
Announcing her pregnancy back in March, Lizzie had already begun to share glimpses into her emotional journey. She spoke then of the “dual emotions” involved in mourning a daughter while preparing to welcome another life into the world. Some days she said it felt like Lily’s absence was too recent to bear. Other days she found reason to hope and to see the “incredible good still around you.”
The response from Lizzie’s audience has been deeply supportive. On her post announcing the birth she was met with messages of love and condolence from followers who said her openness about grief and motherhood resonated with them. Many remarked on the strength it takes to continue forward after loss and to allow space for joy and pain to coexist. As a content creator with over 362,000 followers she has built a community around health education, family life, and the reality of motherhood not always being what people expect.
In her reflections since Lily’s death Lizzie has leaned heavily on faith, family, and the kindness of friends. She shared that when she first learned of Lily’s condition she and Matt were left without many answers. In that void they’ve placed belief in something bigger, in a faith that allows for light even in the darkest places. She described Lily now being held in heaven and imagined her playing, safe and loved beyond this world.
Her Instagram posts have alternated between grief and gratitude. One post from April reads “We are shattered,” followed by a note of assurance that Lily was safe in the arms of those who love her in heaven. Her most recent posts speak of “mustard seed moments,” tiny glimmers of hope in days that feel heavy. She encouraged others who are suffering to let themselves feel what they feel while also trying to notice goodness around them.
What makes this story unusual and powerful is how quickly life can shift. Five months after losing Lily, Lizzie and Matt have welcomed a new child. The juxtaposition of death and birth, of pain and celebration, creates a space in which reality is both less and more than people expect. It becomes an act of courage to joyfully announce a birth when loss is still fresh.
For the Kieffer family this new baby represents more than a continuation of their family. It is a marker of healing. It is proof that in spite of grief love can still grow. In spite of darkness, there remains light. Whether this path becomes easier is something only time will tell. But in announcing their new daughter and letting the world into their pain and their joy, Lizzie has offered a message many will carry forward: that mourning and love need not be separated but can exist together.
