On January 28, 2025, audiences expecting another iconic performance from Ken Flores a budding talent touring the nation were met instead with heartbreaking silence. Now, seven months later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has revealed that the comedian succumbed to cocaine toxicity, with longstanding congestive heart failure cited as a contributing condition.

Flores’ untimely passing at age 28 occurred amid his 2025 Butterfly Effect Tour, just days after a show in Norcross, Georgia, and mere hours before his next scheduled performance in Phoenix. A tour meant to elevate a rising comic’s voice became a painful prelude to his farewell.

Born Kenyi Flores and raised in Aurora, Illinois, Ken emerged from humble beginnings, first gaining traction with viral clips as a teenager. His sharp wit and unfiltered humor caught fire online. A pivotal moment came when a local comedy club owner convinced him to try open mic nights and Flores never looked back. He co-founded the LatinXL comedy showcase to carve space for Latino comedians, turning a backyard idea into a movement.

His career was on an exciting trajectory. In December 2024, he filmed his debut comedy special LOL! Live with Ken Flores which premiered posthumously on Hulu in June and now stands as a lasting testament to his talent and promise.

The day of his passing, first responders discovered Flores unconscious at his Los Angeles home. Despite immediate CPR efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, his family's statement read: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother and son, Kenyi Flores. Please respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss”

The reveal of his cause of death delivers both closure and renewed grief. The official determination frames his death as accidental cocaine toxicity intensified by his cardiac condition. TMZ separately confirmed that toxicology results showed no other substances such as alcohol or fentanyl, underscoring the lethal convergence of drug use and a weakened heart.

Flores’ absence has been felt across comedy circles. Fellow performers and club owners poured tributes online. The Laugh Factory and Hollywood Improv memorialized him as a “force” with unmatched warmth. LatinXL a project born from pandemic-era conversations credited its very existence to Flores' "XTRA-large personality," a moniker born from his outsized presence both on and off the stage.

Today, his cause of death adds a sobering epilogue to his narrative. At his most vibrant, he was building platforms for others and bridging cultural representation in comedy. His sudden passing shines a spotlight on the pressures that rising talents face and the fragile boundaries between health, fame, and excess.

In the laughter that lingers streaming specials, tribute nights, and the dreams of LatinXL Ken Flores’ echo remains loud. He was a performer who invited others into laughter and carried the weight of representation into every punchline. His legacy becomes a call to protect emerging artists, to care for mental and physical well-being, and to honor their voices before the final curtain falls.
