Colombian social media influencer Estefanía Restrepo Valencia—known online as “La Traviesa RP” has died at the age of 26 after she was reportedly attacked during a robbery while travelling with her partner on a highway outside Medellín.
According to police records she was admitted to the Las Vegas Clinic in Medellín late on the evening of October 17 after sustaining multiple stab wounds to her arm and neck. She died shortly after arrival. The incident took place in Caldas, a municipality outside Medellín. Her boyfriend said the pair were driving when they were confronted by two individuals who attempted to steal their belongings. A struggle ensued and Restrepo was fatally wounded.
Restrepo had built a significant following online with her humorous videos and content more than 218,000 followers on Facebook and 28,000 on TikTok the morning of her death she posted a final message to her audience. The Colombian authorities namely the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley are investigating the case. They have interviewed her partner and are examining surveillance footage and cellphone data to verify the circumstances.
Her family has expressed serious doubts about the official narrative. Her father questioned why none of her belongings appeared to have been taken and why the person who brought her to the hospital did not stop at a closer facility. Friends of Restrepo say they heard her voice and that of a man shouting in the minutes before the attack unfolded.
The tragedy highlights both the high stakes for public-facing creators and the violence that can disrupt even everyday life. For Restrepo, content creation was more than a hobby it was a livelihood and a connection to hundreds of thousands of followers. Her death comes amid an alarming rise in homicide in the region: this incident marked the 93rd homicide in Antioquia so far this year and the eighth in the municipality of Caldas. She is the first female homicide victim recorded in Caldas in 2025.
Restrepo’s passing has sparked widespread reaction online. Her friends, fans and fellow creators shared memories of someone they described as bright, joyful and driven. More broadly it has brought attention to the safety of influencers who travel for content or engage in everyday routines while in the public eye.
The nature of the reported robbery adds an unsettling dimension. The idea that two assailants on motorcycles intercepted them while travelling reinforces concerns about roadside risk in certain regions and about personal security even for digital-industry professionals. The fact that belongings were reportedly not taken leads investigators to consider alternative motives or questions about why the altercation turned deadly.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are looking into the pair’s travel route, reviewing CCTV footage of the highway, looking at the partner’s vehicle where bloodstains were found, and examining digital-forensic data from their phones. Until the results are clear the case remains open.
For her audience the abrupt end to Restrepo’s life resonates as a rupture. Influencers often project continuity, vitality and connection but behind the screen there are vulnerabilities and dangers many do not see. Her last post earlier that day stands as a poignant reminder of how quickly living content can switch to tragic headlines.
In the broader context Latin America has seen a noted increase in violence affecting public figures, women creators and social-media personalities. Restrepo’s death adds her name to a growing list of digital natives whose private lives became public tragedies, raising questions about how creators navigate safety, travel and exposure in the age of online fame.
While the investigation continues, the legacy of Estefanía Restrepo Valencia will be shaped by two things: the joy and communal energy she brought to her online work, and the brutal injustice of her death. For her followers she remains La Traviesa, the mischievous persona who offered smiles and community. Now she is also a cautionary emblem of how fragile life and digital presence can be.
