Brazilian Influencer Alana Alves da Silva Among Seven Killed in Highway Crash in Brazil

Brazilian influencer Alana Alves da Silva was among seven people killed in a devastating head-on collision in Brazil after the vehicle she was traveling in fled from police while carrying approximately 302 pounds of marijuana.

The 28-year-old content creator, known online as “Vampira 085,” died following the August 8 crash on the BR-251 highway near Salinas in the northern region of Minas Gerais. Alves had built an audience of nearly 60,000 Instagram followers through lifestyle content, humorous videos and posts about fitness and healthy living.

According to Brazil’s Federal Highway Police, Alves was traveling in a Fiat Cronos when authorities attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver allegedly ignored the order and continued along the highway for approximately six miles.

Authorities said the driver later attempted to overtake four vehicles while traveling through a curve. The Fiat entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with a black GM Astra traveling in the other direction. The impact resulted in catastrophic consequences for both vehicles.

Alves died at the scene. The Fiat’s driver, 24-year-old Pedro Yan Linhares Gutierrez, and another passenger, 19-year-old Ramon Silverio Nogueira, were also killed. Local reporting indicated the two men were initially rescued but later died after being transported to a hospital.

A fourth person traveling in the Fiat survived. Local authorities identified her as Letícia Freitas Braga, 21, and reported that she was hospitalized in extremely serious condition after suffering a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures.

All four people traveling in the GM Astra were killed. They were identified as Argemiro Machado da Silva, 79, Valmir Machado da Silva, 76, Alcides Silva Santos, 77, and Gilmar Bispo dos Santos, 46. The four victims were from Ruy Barbosa, a municipality in the Brazilian state of Bahia.

Following the collision, authorities searched the Fiat and discovered 164 packages containing approximately 137 kilograms, or 302 pounds, of marijuana. Brazil’s Civil Police subsequently opened an investigation involving suspected drug trafficking and criminal association.

Investigators also revealed additional information about the driver. Local reports said Gutierrez did not have a valid driver’s license and was wearing an electronic monitoring device connected to an earlier legal matter. Authorities said he had previously faced allegations involving drug trafficking, although investigators had not established publicly whether he had any connection to a criminal organization.

Alves lived in Fortaleza, Ceará, and had developed a recognizable online presence through posts documenting her daily life. Along with her social media career, she operated a fitness business called Latina Fitness and frequently shared content centered on exercise and healthy routines.

Her death has drawn considerable attention in Brazil and internationally, particularly because of the circumstances surrounding the collision. However, authorities have not publicly established what Alves knew about the drugs found inside the vehicle or what role, if any, she had in their transportation. The investigation therefore remains focused on determining the circumstances surrounding the marijuana and the events that led to the deadly police pursuit.

What is already clear is the devastating human cost. Seven people from two vehicles lost their lives in a matter of moments, while another young woman was left seriously injured. The crash brought an abrupt end to Alves’ growing social media career while leaving multiple families mourning loved ones after one of the region’s most shocking recent highway tragedies.
